Foreign Language Study at KCD
We offer Spanish in the Lower School,
in the Middle School (Students can choose in 6th grade to continue Spanish or start French or Latin). The 5th grade students do a year's rotation of
comparative language (French, Spanish and Latin. In the Upper School classes
are available through the AP levels in all three languages. Also see curriculum and textbooks.

Our Language Learning Facilities
We have a 19 station computer lab dedicated
to foreign language study. Every student has at least 45 minutes per week
in the lab. Besides work on the worldwide web, students use the Rosetta
Stone program
at every level. We also have a 20 carrel analog
lab where students can practice
oral and listening skills while being monitered by the teacher at a main
console. Students can work in paired groups, receive feedback from the teacher
as
they work or record work for evaluation by the teacher at a later date. All
AP language tests are given in this lab.

The presence of laptops and SmartBoards in all US classrooms
has lead to many uses of online resources
